The number of U.S. states that have mandated ultrasounds for the first time has increased by more than 500% since 2015, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) reported in a report released Tuesday.
In 2016, the total number of states that required ultrasound for routine surgery was 8,000.
Last year, that number rose to 12,000 and has been increasing every year since then, ASA said.
A survey conducted by the ASA found that a majority of American adults and one-third of older adults have been told about the benefits of an ultrasound.
In 2017, more than two-thirds of respondents said they would get an ultrasound, and the vast majority of respondents had had one already.
Most people have received a scan before they were able to have a baby, according to the ASA.
Most Americans who have been offered an ultrasound are also getting an ultrasound to determine whether they have pre-existing conditions, said Dr. Michael A. Mauer, chairman of the ASA’s board of directors.
He said that means ultrasound companies are getting a lot of exposure.
“A lot of the people who are doing the scans have been doing ultrasounds since the 1980s,” Mauer said.
Maser said most of the companies offering ultrasounds have been small and have only been offering them for a few years.
Most companies don’t offer a lot more than a standard ultrasound and have a few different methods, he said.
Many have a relatively small number of technicians and use a different machine, which may also make it harder to predict which one is the best for a patient, Mauer added.
In addition to the cost, a small ultrasound company can be costly because of its size and labor costs, he added.
Macher said it’s likely that many people will not be able to afford to have an ultrasound in their home or office, and there are many options out there that will provide the same information as an MRI, including a digital caliper.
The average price of an MRI is $5,000, according in a survey by the American College of Radiology.
An ultrasound will cost between $5 and $8,000 depending on the company and the method used, according the ASA report.
MAAER: ‘It’s just another reason to do something’ It is an extremely invasive procedure that can cause serious health problems, including brain damage, the study said.
But the survey also noted that people can get an MRI at home or on the internet, or they can have an MRI performed in a clinic, but the cost of the procedure is typically less than $100.
“It’s not an inexpensive procedure, and it’s just one more reason to continue doing things that we think are important to the health of our nation,” MAAERS study author Dr. David H. Krasner, director of the Center for Medical Imaging and Laser Technology at Johns Hopkins University, told CNN.
The American Medical Association (AMA) issued a statement last year calling for the cost-benefit analysis of ultrasound and the importance of making it as accessible as possible.
It said that it is “essential” that Americans have access to ultrasounds, but that the cost is not necessarily the same across the country.
A recent study of the costs and benefits of medical imaging services found that for the majority of people who receive a scan, they were not harmed by the procedure.
But it also found that patients with preexisting conditions are more likely to have complications.
Mathers, who is based in Atlanta, told the AJC she is considering getting an MRI and has considered getting one for herself.
She said she wants to get a CT scan.
MATHERS: ‘I feel really grateful’ She said it was a decision that she made to get an image and not because she thought she was going to get sick.
MSAIL: I’ve had a scan at home for a long time, but I have always thought I was going too far to get one.
MAYERS: I would definitely get one for myself if it was affordable.
It was a long and arduous process, and I feel really thankful to have had one for a while, she said.
She is also considering getting a CT scanner.
“We all know that there are people who need a scan and we don’t have enough,” Mather said.
“You can’t get that information from the government.”
